On a high rocky knoll a mounted lawman, an Indian scout and
a pack horse have paused. The lawman in the center foreground
is profile right, to the left the Indian scout is profiled
from the rear. The pack horse is to the right and behind the
lawman. The lawman is gazing to the distant right appears
to be in deep contemplation. The lawman appears to be the
same character as portrayed in another Wieghorst painting
“Sheriff‘s Posse, and the motif is similar.
